Eric Eckstein

EricI grew up in Philadelphia and have spent my entire life in the technical business world.  In the mid 80’s I graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering.  My wife Dalila and I are both members of the first graduating class of the High School of Engineering & Science in Philadelphia.

You could say I’ve been quite a tech geek for all my life… :-)

I like to create things.   The US Patent office currently has about 21 patents issued with another 9+ patents that are pending approval that I have invented or co-invented…

In terms of my career, it sure has been varied…

I worked my way through high school and college as a wedding photographer.   Its where I learned to really understand people in high stress situation and yet still be creative and able to control the project (wedding photos are tough to redo the next day…  )

When I graduated college I was always very interested in software development, but I’ve covered a lot of additional products and technologies in many different industries…

  •  communication & RF systems equipment for radio broadcasters ans scientific research.  You probably listen to stations that use these products every day…
  • Electronic Access Control (EAC) systems for businesses and government organization.   These are the systems that automatically control access into buildings with badges that you swipe…   (was Checkpoint, now Sielox)
  • Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) anti-theft systems for retailers.   You would know it as the stuff that goes beep-beep at the entrance when someone tries to steal something)…
  • RFID systems for retailers, libraries and manufacturers (they call it NFC now on mobile phones and it is sold by 3M)…
  • ultra rugged windows CE mobile computers for surveying, public safety, field service…  If you use a handheld computer outside for work, you probably use one of these…  2T still manufatures in USA right in Horsham Pennsylvania…
  • total cloud/mobile application solutions for police and university public safety departments…

Well, you get the idea, software, hardware, manufacturing…   I have a lot of interests…

Just prior to founding My Restaurant Apps, I was President of another cloud/mobile apps business called United Public Safety (UPsafety).   UPSafety’s cloud and mobile solutions are used for police and university public safety departments to issue and manage parking tickets…

Yeah, I know…   everyone’s gotten those!  And no one likes them…   I get lots of comments from my friends and family about that one!

It was really interesting though…   Most of the police departments in the US were still using paper tickets, and the cost of mobile computing solutions was WAY too expensive (tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars!).  Sure the larger towns and cities could afford them (New York City issues about 600+M$ in parking tickets a year!), but most smaller ones could not…

So, I wanted to have a solution that was affordable for really small departments.   Which was why with I chose to develop and market a cloud based solution with nothing to install at the clients site.   It kept the deployment fast, and costs low, allowing us to reach a market that no one else could.

Well, when I left UPsafety, I really took a hard look at many other markets that could benefit from a similar strategy.   My wife and I are foodies, so it was natural that restaurants (and bars, and clubs…) came to mind.

After much research and development of the business process, this was the birth of My Restaurant Apps!   A powerful and effective mobile apps direct marketing and Ecommerce solution for the restaurant industry.   So cost-effective, that any (and all) restaurants can afford it…

Thank you again for visiting My Restaurant Apps.  Take a look around and then give us a call, we would love to earn your business and help your improve your’s!
